homework Christian Alejo
My carrer allows me to fit into many fields in the music industry like the administration, finance, advertising, events, ect. becuase all this fields require knowledge in finance and international relationship.
The differents varieties in the types of music and the constant globalization, permit the music industry form part in any country around the world, and established new bussinenes creating work and stability. this bussines reforced the economy beacuse its moved million of millos or dollars per year, so the constant development in this industry generet a lot of works opportunities.
is important to mention that the constant violation of the rigths on the musical products produce a disadvantage between other industries. this problem can be solutionated buying legal music and having consius in the legal rights.
For this opinions, i would like to work in the musical bussiness.
I have always wondered what I would like to do after I graduate from this career, and when I imagine myself in the future, several things come to my mind. If I am honest I have not imagine myself working in the music industry, nevertheless, now that I think about it, it would be a pretty interesting thing to do.
I would love to be in a band and make my own music, but that is an unreachable dream. I play the guitar, but I do not consider myself a musician, I think of myself as someone who really enjoys music and tries to have a good time with it, whether listening to it, or playing it, but never creating it. To be a musician one must have talent, imagination, commitment, and most importantly passion for music. I have great admiration for those who can create music (And when I talk about music, I mean good, well produced, non mediocre music, because anyone can make crappy music) from no were: from those who can write inspiring lyrics and for those who create revolutionary sounds and rhythms.
That is why, If I am realistic, and I relate my career with the possible jobs this industry would have for a financier; and if I consider the fact that I do not have the gift for making music, I would have to say I would like to work as some sort of band manager, label executive, or as an investor. I would love to become an influential person in this great industry, not only for my position, but also for my knowledge and experience. That way I could have two of the things I enjoy having the most in my life: money and music, and at the same time being happy with that I do.
Yes, i definitively would work in some part of the music industry, because this sector has developed the potential that it has and has taken the opportunity of the technological advances, to become in one of the biggest sectors of the economy!.
Also If we analyze the chain of value of the industry of the music in digital wheel we see that new elements are joining, and this is where i would like to work, and the reason is because since besides the creation and the musical production, it is necessary to implement new infrastructures of technological of digitalization of the music, storage and distribution, together to new systems of commercialization, collection and management of the rights on the musical products.
There is a big opportunity in the world of the music industry, despite of what many people thinks for example in countries like our country the problem is the illegal production of music on the streets, which makes the business less attractive for the investors, and i would like to help my country to make this problem, something interesting for the sector, for example as the sector of the electronics, which they acquire increasingly a major weight inside the industry of the music
We have potential and i think i can work for it, the point is to take the new technologies and transform them across new networks and digital technologies, which allow to distribute and to commercialize music to minor costs of production and to distribute it to a major scale. There is a nice example with iTunes of the company Apple and Napster, this company showed us how is possible to recover across the elements i mentioned before. They are taking place across both platforms of commercial exploitation of music that operate nowadays on Internet.
This is just a sample of how big and successful the sector of the music industry can be, and this isn't just because of the new technologies, it's also part of the possibilities of the change that reside especially in the cultural public policies that could be implemented from the different national conditions and the regional administrations, Increasing the participation of the small enterprises and promoting the plurality of the cultural offer in general.
Silvia Campo
Therefore, music business seems uncertain and uninteresting for me as a musician. When I choose my career I was convinced of my passion for what I study and my interest in policies and public administration. As a result, I can say I would not like to work in the music business, unless my work has something to do with the Ministry of Culture and the preservation of Colombian cultural heritage.
If graphic arts have curators, the music industry should have people working in the preservation of traditional genres, as well as in cultivating the new ones developed during the last decades all over the world. It is important to understand that the music is a changeable art that survives not only with classic rhythms, but also with the new ones. Even if my work wouldn’t be an inside the music industry job, it would be a job regarding music and what happens to it in a national level, regarding preservation policies and cultural incentives for young stars.
The music business, in conclusion, can be an attractive work field for me as long as it involves my current studies, and the work with the public administration, but it is not my priority, since a lot can be done in this country from other fields.
Angelica Zambrano
I have to admit that I like the music but I like it also because they make me remind my favorite movies. For me, music and cinema will always be together, they complement each other very well. If someday I have the opportunity to work in the music industry, certainly I will produce sonorous bands. When I hear those inspiring songs, I imagine myself making the design of the CD mask; I imagine how would its video will be, who would be their main characters; If I do these I will love that I could give the best me in every work I do: whether it’s very important or not.
I think that there are a lot of aspects in music industry which I don’t agree. Even though I consider myself as a tolerant person, I don’t like the things I perceive as bad to be so close to me. Some of these bad things that are seen in the music industry are: the ambition for money, the egoism, the disloyal competition, and others. I consider those kinds of attitudes are against my moral principles that are: love, friendship, and mutual help.
Finally, I think music has good and bad things: as everything in life does. But I think, music could be something in which I can work in the future; and certainly if that happens, I will see it as a life style and not only a job.

if I ever had to work in the jungle that the music industry resembles, it would be working along with the management and representation sector. I would be highly interested in this area not because my relationship with music is limited to daily listening, but mainly because this division involves the constant hustle and movement of the world of business, selling the product, selling the artist.
Not to mention, business is also my passion, and this factor I believe, would give me an advantage to survive and prevail in the environment the music industry creates. It not only requires the knowledge that can be learned in school, but also the confidence and audacity that can only be achieved through experience.
Alejandra Amaris
For this reason, if you ask me if I would like to work in the music industry I would say yes, not because I have any specific talent, because I don’t have it, but because I want to know all this world that lies behind the stars that we know, that world where you have to play not only with numbers but with the image and the people for fame and big money, because we must remember that the music industry is that a business that benefits not only the artist but also those who are behind him.
Also, it is very interesting to see how the public enjoys everything that represents your favorite artist and my work if I give them the opportunity to help them be happy, obviously I feel the most satisfied person in the world.
In this way, the music industry is not only the world of artists but also the world of entrepreneurs and labels that help make possible the triumph of the same and it is in this world where I like to work if I get me the chance.

After some time studying my career I acknowledged several facts. First, I had absolutely no idea what a position in the Government entails in the XXI century. Second, my preferences are completely dissimilar with the labour profile this career offers. Third, I was slow to the point of taking more than a year to realise such a simple thing. Fourth, it took me no real effort to approve the subjects involved albeit if I did not enjoy them.
As such, I have decided to complete the career in order to make something out of the time I have already invested in it, but to look for an alternate option once I am done. Unlike what I first thought, I do not have a specific plan, and simply hope to keep my mind open for what it might come. We don’t fully control our lives anyway.
Now, I had never really looked at music as something to do devotedly until a couple of years ago, when I began learning how to play a musical instrument, started hearing a wider scope of genres, and appreciating it as one of the pinnacles of human action. I suppose that if the opportunity appears and I feel like it could be interesting and, above all, fun to try it out, I would plunge into it.
However, I realise that it is not something one can do over the night, and to that purpose I believe it would be proper to start dedicating some more time (training with an instrument, singing, mixing new sounds etc); after that, I would have something more to add to the notion of music if I opt to perform in it for a while, or if things don’t wrap up to that end, at least I add a new hobby and some more knowledge to my being.
As a final point I have learnt after a while, that choosing to try it is or not should not a question of acquiring wealth or objects to fill your life with, but rather a decision that encompasses preferences, ideas and ,overall, satisfaction.
Camilo Sierra M.
Besides, a person who is going to be graduated of finance and international relationships, whose purpose in an industry is bringing the enterprise or a business in particular to the maximum point of earnings and benefits, could not be closed to a possibility in the labor market. On the contrary, this person should be open to any business in which he can get a part of. So then, for me music industry is a good possibility in which if the future give me a chance I won’t say not. Not only considering the previous reasons, the music industry is a fascinating world in which you can make very good contacts, make money quickly, spend time out of an office traveling and promoting the artists and being part of a business very moved in which never one is going to be bored.
Anyway, the future will put us in a place perhaps unexpected but be sure that in industry music you will find plenty of oportunities and an open market to exploit.
Nicolas Alvarez Cuesta
But the fact that I began to interest in finances doesn’t mean that I have to move away completely from the music industry, actually, in my new position, I could have an important contact with music industry, because knowing how to manage money I could play an important role by making business with record labels or with famous artists that gives me a lot of money and also gives me a laboral experience that stands me as an important person in business making. Even if this is not my wishes expectations for future, if possibilities comes around, it is something that I would work in, but this time managing money and investments and making grow up any musical enterprise or record label, and if conditions are provided to create a band, I would make my and my friends dream come true.
Jessica Cabrales Duran
Nowadays I have discovered another role of the music industry, the entrepreneurial side; which is better than being an artist in my point of view, just because it allows one to have family time and develop other kinds of activities. So for instance, being a manager would be really exciting due to the several relations one has to make in order to get your artist involved in the music industry and at the same time, you get to travel a lot without neglecting one's family chores and personal priorities.
But there are also some things which are definately awful about the music industry.
Once you as an artist discover that little spark of recognition that may guide you into a higher position among the other emerging artists, you might notice that ever since that happens there is nothing that could move you away from becoming reach and famous regardless if someone has to be left over, bacause the important thing in the music industry is produce, produce and produce once you become famous and a role model to your fans. On the other hand, you will never ever recover your private life completely unless you quit from the musci industry; everybody will now if you have a crush or if you broke with your couple or if you are increasing your drugs or alcohol preferences day after day, and so on...
It is a really hectic life, nontheless attractive, but for me is kind of ideal for specific personalities in specific circumstanes owed to the pro and cons it leads to.
John Mendivelso
To think of working in the music industry is necessary to observe if there is talent to be a singer or play any musical instrument in this way can analyze these two options, for the first my voice is not the most indicated to be a nice singer, on the other hand, I didn´t learn to play any musical instrument to be a part of some important band. however there are other areas where I really want to participate in the music industry, one example would be a manager or promoter recognized label to apply my studies and do what I really like the handle a bit of finance and promote new artists are activities that move every day in the music industry, and it is a very important role to grow the music as such.
To sum up, It might be interesting to know a little more about the music industry, participate is not simply through a great company but start thinking about creating a great record that can help new talent in Colombia and the world. This industry could be a great life experience, seeing it from the point of view of business, now if it is to continue the feeling for music, not about making money but the message is through what you like best do, and what better thing to use the language universe as it is the music.
Nicolas Sanchez A.
The music industry refers to the business industry connected with the creation and sale of music. It starts when record companies, labels, and publishers distribute recorded music products internationally with and efficient control in the rights of those products.
In the 2000s, listening to music had an incredible increasing all around the world. People started to listen music files on MP3 players, Ipods, or simply trading music on file sharing or buying it in the internet in the form of digital files. During this decade many smaller independent CD stores went out of business because buyers decreased their purchases of CDs or many of them lower their sales. I think it is the moment to change the music industry and a financier is someone who could pursue the music business recovers.
I am a student of finances and international relations and in some years I would have a wide knowledge in personal finance and business finance. My professional desire is aimed at business creation. All my goals are aimed at the creation of a market leading company.
Particularly I have no experience in the music industry neither with relationships with producers or small music companies. The only experience with music in my life started when I studied in my school. I played the guitar and sang all those songs I liked. I am sure that music is an art and that any person have a good experience with it. I could say all the people have a passion with music and I really have it. So if I have to answer to the question if I would like to work in the music industry my answer will be why not.
In conclusion music is a passion for me, I had a good experience as a guitar player at my school and my goals are aimed in business creation. I am sure that combining these things could be very interesting and would surely make me happy working with two passions in my life: music and business.

Certainly, you have to be crazy not to take all of those things. That’s why I would love to be involved in the music industry, however not only because of the fame and the money which nowadays is common. I would adore the fact that I’m implicated somehow with music because I consider myself as a melomaniac. I feel so passionate about music and I enjoy it so much I want it to be part of every aspect in my life, including when I’m happy or sad or while I’m studying, even while I’m showering I don’t feel comfortable if I’m no listening to some house music or some classic rock like The Rolling Stones or some new band I found on Y outube.
I’m aware the music industry structure is very complex and involves a lot of people including artist, fans, record labels, producers, etc. but if I could chose the perfect job for me, it would be as CEO of Domino Records or Ministry of Sound, two of my favorite record labels, especially Domino Records because they are a small record label that only sign groups they love and groups they like to hear, not for the propaganda or the money they can get of them. Furthermore, they have signed groups like Arctic Monkeys, Franz Ferdinand and The Kills, groups that in my opinion are amazing.
All in all, the music industry is very fun and makes people happy all over the world all day long, and it’s because of this that Music = Life. How would your day to day life be without great beats and marvelous guitar chords? I simply can’t imagine.

I really like to work in business projects, or perhaps in a large multinational company, also could be in my own company where I am my own boss, but while all of this, I gain work experience in order to have a level accreditation very high on my work and so climb steadily to achieve my main goals.
I would like, work in the evaluation of new projects, it might have different perspectives on business and commercial development and could the same way if necessary to supplement these with my concepts to reach successfully develop or promote. I prefer to interact in a bank, the truth in a matter of numbers and finance, business and money, I play very convenient and easy way, I also would like to be financial advice, for people who wanted to invest their money and generates profits do so in a proper way with the collaboration mine and my professional advice to develop a good business to be productive and generate satisfactory earnings.

On the other hand, I think that working in this environment involves many sacrifices, not only time but also the family and friends time, it is really important that a musician has tested the availability of power at any time and be available to travel anytime, which I think would be a weakness for me, it would not be willing to live constantly in that pace of work without the time to share with friends and family.
It is also a sacrifice of privacy, as this will be exposed to many opinions or "gossip" from the people, which I think that cause troubles and disrupt anyone's life.
Given that I'm studying Finance and International Relations, so far I would like to work in many things, among which in my options are to work in a stock exchange and work in the area of project management within a company either national or multinational.

Working in the music industry could be a very interesting idea for my future life and career. One of the most important advices young people receive prior of making a decision about choosing a career is to work in what likes and passion are involved. I love music and business, and there are very interesting business positions inside the music industry. This industry is one of the most powerful in the world because of the influence music have in society. Music business men are in charge of commercializing a product that gives greater benefits than the material ones to its customers. The product, music, is a changing product that can fit any likes the costumer can have. It is so strong that it has the power to touch people’s life. It is the most commercial and powerful product I can think of.
Working in the music industry is a great option for my professional career. This means that I would be working in a promising industry, but most important, I will be working in something I know I would enjoy. Music is a beautiful product to work with. As Michael Jackson’s producer once said and many people would agree with him, “Music goes first”.
Davis Rodríguez
In my opinion I see the music industry as a closed field for people who aren’t deeply involved with it and in that way the record labels and the companies act united as a monopoly in which no everyone have the same opportunities to enter, even more so I don`t see the industry as an option to develop myself as a financier, I’m not trying to say that musical industry isn’t profitable as stock exchange because its is a worldwide business but if it is truly a business that imposes barriers to entry besides it has to affront different problems such as piracy.
Work in the stock exchange has become a goal for me due to the fact that I look it as an accessible field given that I’m getting an excellent preparation at Universidad Externado. In fact I think I could perform the tasks better at the stock exchange than any other business. Nevertheless I think that people who are related to the music industry has to continue working hard for overtake the problems that society imposes because music is an expression of culture an expression of what we are.
I would really like tu be part of the music business.
I enjoy a lot working up in music events and I have an interesting experience in the past that made me wish to have my own business related to music.
When I was at school I was encharge of the organization of an event called “Luanda music Fest” which was a traditional rock festival at my school that took all day long were 13 bands played (these bands could be from other schools or from university projects) that were elected by context.
Since that experience of coordinating all the logistics, finding the sound equipment, timing the bands at the stage, helping up with security and other stuff, some friends and I had have discuss for long periods about the possibility of opening a night club. Though out this process we have figure that it would be nice to have a place that could represent all the Latin style of our culture.
For us this dance night club would mix up certain ingredients like live shows, food, drinks, and specially a huge dancing area. The idea is to mix up all those ingredients where people could come to a comfortable place, with plenty space to sit, with a huge place to dance, which has limited entrances, where you could find tropical live music like salsa or merengue, and where you could eat delicious food. This place is thought to be made in the middle of a very popular spot like 93 or 85 street, with a very modern but representative architecture that can reflect the real essence of what we are trying to transmit.
The main idea of this place is its exclusivity, basically because the concept of the club is that people how are inside could have a very special personalized attention, that they could find space to sit down and the most important to dance comfortably. Our main hook would be the national bands. The idea is to promote either new projects that are been develop in the music faculties of the city that play this type of music and also the national bands that already have a “name” constructed. At the same time, we would like to bring ones in a while foreign artist to organize “small” concerts in order to promote the good name of the club.
In conclusion, I hope that in the future my friends and I would have the financial capability to turn up this idea in something real. I think that this could be a very interesting business that could give us not only a high profit but lots of fun and entertainment. So this is my idea for been part of the music business.

Another reason why in this very moment I’m not interested in working in some of the music industry is because I want to live a normal life and most importantly a life plenty of peace, not a life surrounded by lots of people that wants to turn my life in a whole mess and never let myself be at ease. It is true that for some, living life in a furious and agitated way is the best way of living it, and they would do whatever is up to them to reach it, but for me life is worth living when you share it with the ones you love and by the ones you are loved, I think that in this industry reaching this goal of living at peace is a little bit too difficult for me but not impossible for others which I really admire.
Esteban Palacio M.
I'd never thought about the possibility to work in the music industry since I don't have such a very good voice, and I quit playing musical instruments when I was 12 so as days went by, my tendency to get involved in this industry gradually changed to other interests and activities that "seemed" more interesting at that time. Another reason that has made me lose interest in the “artist” profile is the fact that I wouldn’t like my life to be shown on a gossip magazine and not been able to live a regular life.
Even though my current studies differ from this area, I would be interested in the music production area such as a sound engineer or music producer, taking in my advance that my family has shown some music talents in singing and various instrumental abilities, I would really consider the possibility to get involved in the music production and musical advising for famous artists. As another great aspect, I believe that I could use all my current knowledge in finance and international affairs, to develop the artists’ profiles throughout the world, helping and representing them in the personal, economic, and professional aspects so that they can become even better every day to become better artists. With the right partnership, a record label could be founded, because the music industry can become an amazing business idea as an investment project to develop my financial and management skills and also help out my cousins (Whom are really talented) get to be well known around the world. Finally it is important to clarify that if I decide someday to get involved in this industry, it will be as a hobby and not as a full time job because what I really like is the financial and business management area.
Katalina Méndez C.
Currently the music industry is not my priority but in any moment of my life I think that it would be an attractive field because this business has a special magic. I think too that if there is something very important is to work in whatever that has a significance and meaning for you. This is another reason by which I really would like work in some part of the music industry, furthermore and as is said by a writer called Herbie Hancock “Music happens to be an art form that transcends language”. Work in the music industry is not only an opportunity to earn money but is a great learning because music is more that a trend or a temporal movement; really the music is a world crowded of feelings.
Independently of have to be a talented person in this field, the important is to work with all enthusiasm and learn that there are so many things that people can do it. I don’t know almost nothing or nothing about the music industry but it is an exciting topic overall because can be an excellent business. It is a successful issue because give you pleasure, knowledge and definitely a lot of money. Although the music industry is an unknown world for me, I am sure that I can have a successful career in this area because my desires for success are greater than my fear of failure.
Homework
However, if someday I take some contact with the music industry, it would be only in the administration of any recognized record label that brings me a lot of money and a new work experience. In fact, I would make all the financial work of a record label as investments to make it grow up, business with famous artists, that increase the popularity of the record label, and all the things concerned about numbers, money and investments that makes develop the record label. That’s the only field I would like to work in musical industry, a field that brings me fame as person and as a professional in finances. On the other hand, that´s not my deepest dream because I began to study finances thinking in play an important role into a completely different social context.

I recently went to the best concert I have ever been to in my life. It took place at “Corferias”, here in Bogota Colombia on March 27 of the present year. It was truly one of the best music presentations that Bogotá has ever experience because it had a combination of all the elements that makes a show unforgettable and worth going… Franz Ferdinand was in Colombia for the first time for the “XII Festival Iberoamericano de Teatro”
Franz Ferdinand is a Scottish Indie rock band that begun in Glasgow in 2002. The band is composed by Alex Kapranos (lead vocals and guitar), Bob Hardy (bass guitar), Nick McCarthy (rhythm guitar, keyboards and backing vocals) and Paul Thomson (drums, percussion and backing vocals). In my opinion they are all geniuses.
When I arrived to Corferias the line was huge, but the people making it were very excited and anxious. They were talking about how much they wanted to see them live, about other concerts they had been to, and their expectations as well. As we got closer to the entrance we started feeling more and more excited, the concert was about to begin.
The place (Salon Milenio at Corferias) was perfect for the concert: it was not very big and you could see the stage with no problems, no matter where you were standing. The first thing I noticed was that the public had people of all ages: there were 14-17 year old kids with their parents, old men, old women, young people in their 20s, in fact there was an incredible variety of people, and not just in ages but in styles also.
The show begun at 8pm with a Colombian band called The Hall Effect which played for 30 minutes approximately, showing their new production made in Europe. The songs they played were very good and the quality of the sound could not be better. It all suggested that Franz Ferdinand were going to be unbelievable.
Finally, at 9pm approximately Franz Ferdinand came out. First they put a video in which they introduced all the members of the band and the image of their tour, then they started playing a song called “Auf Acshe” that talks about a girl you can’t have but you want her with all your strength, it is an excellent, catchy song.
After they finished playing that song, the lead singer saluted the Colombian crowd with a lot of energy and excitement, at the same time, we could not believe what we were experiencing: The lights, the sound, the band, the crowd, everything was just perfect.
The show went on for about 2 hours. All the songs were incredible, they sounded better live than in their CDs. Alex’s voice was spectacular, guitar player Nick McCarthy was awesome: he played and moved very fast and the vibe he gave to the crowd was amazing, Paul Thomson, the drummer, played very focused, but yet, giving the best show he could, and finally Bob Hardy (bass guitar player), in the middle of his seriousness, was transmitting happiness and was matching perfectly with his band-mates.
In the middle of their concert, they gave a rare, yet awesome drum show. At one point they all grabbed drum sticks and started playing a drum set that laid in the middle of the stage. The drum show lasted only a few minutes, but in was definitely one of the best things they did.
The end was just deserving of plaudits and shouts, they all abandoned the stage one at a time and in the end the only man standing was the drummer. Paul started playing an awesome drum solo and finally he ended it with the entire category he has. After the music stopped, the four of them came out to say goodbye to the thousands of Colombians that went that night just to see them play, the singer, Alex, had a Colombian flag in his hands and the crowd went nuts.
It was truly incredible all the energy they had and the good vibes their transmitted to us. They all played with a lot of commitment, but also having a lot of fun, and that’s why there were not any bored sad people in the whole auditorium, we were all just happy all night long.
